Select Translate
Privacy Policy
Select Translate only processes text after you explicitly choose the context-menu translation action. This page describes what the extension sends, what it stores locally, and what it does not collect.
What Is Processed
Data used to provide the translation feature
- The text you explicitly select before clicking Translate selection.
- Your chosen target language.
How It Is Used
Supabase relay requests
When you invoke the translation action, the extension sends the selected text and target language from the extension to a developer-operated Supabase Edge Function over HTTPS in order to return a translated result.
That Edge Function forwards only the translation request to Google Translate, receives the translated response, and passes the result back to the extension.
Local Storage
What stays in the browser
The extension stores your preferred target language, display settings, and theme in Chrome extension storage. This build does not ask for or store a private translation API key in the browser profile.
What Is Not Collected
Limits on data use
- The extension does not scan full pages automatically.
- The extension does not collect or transmit browsing history.
- The extension does not sell user data.
- The extension does not send the full page contents to the translation provider.
Third Parties
External translation provider
The current packaged build uses Supabase to host the translation relay and Google Translate to generate the translated text. Review the relevant privacy and data-handling terms for those services before use.
If the relay configuration or translation provider changes, update this policy, the Chrome Web Store disclosure, and the in-product disclosure before publishing the updated build.
Policy Updates
Keeping disclosures aligned
If the extension's data practices, storage behavior, or translation provider change, update this policy, the Chrome Web Store disclosure, and the in-product disclosure before publishing the updated build.
